Watch: Maignan subjected to racist abuse even after players walked off

By Oliver Fisher -

A shocking video has shown that the racial abuse directed at Mike Maignan continued after the players had left the field and when Udinese equalised on Saturday night.

A clip circulated by Marca (as seen below) clearly shows a Udinese fan filming Maignan after Samardzic made it 1-1 and he repeatedly shouted ‘ne**o di merda’ which would translate to ‘fu**ing ni**er’.

According to what was reported by Carlos Passerini of Il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), there is a first person under investigation for the racist chants against Maignan which a video helped identify.

The 300 cameras of the BluEnergy Arena in Udine and the collaboration of the Friulian club are decisive in this first result of the investigations.

  1. The udinese fans have nowhere left to hide. They can keep crying all the way home when they get banned for life like the clowns they are.

  2. What a fool

He is privileged to see a world class player like Mike playing in his city

Imagine being one of the black Udinese players listening to their own fans chant this filth

  3. I don’t understand why Udine doesn’t take even more drastic action against these animals. I would also ban the group claiming that there were no chants… they are a big part of the problem.

The Italian government should also do something at the country level, by sending them to prison and making them pay hefty monetary fines as well. Perhaps that should at least ensure they behave within civilized norms, educating them is another thing altogether
