Watch: Milan loanee Colombo bags his brace for Monza with a screamer

By Isak Möller -

Monza are currently taking on Hellas Verona away from home and AC Milan loanee Lorenzo Colombo has been the protagonist so far, scoring two out of three goals. And the second one was a true screamer.

The 21-year-old, who joined Monza on loan in the final days of the summer mercato, opened the scoring in the 41st minute with a composed finish (see the video below). It was his second goal of the season, following a three-game drought.

Then, in the 73rd minute, Colombo took matters into his own hands as he found the back of the net with a screamer. In the 85th minute, after the 3-0 goal, Raffaele Palladino decided to take off the Milan loanee.

The Milan fans are surely a bit frustrated as Luka Jovic hasn’t performed nearly on the same level as Colombo so far.

  1. Thank God we gave Colombo and bought Jovic instead🤡. At least they are both loans so next year we will have Colombo back in our team and Jovic as far as possible.

  2. great decision by management to get rid of Colombo and and replace with Jovic, you’ve got to hand it to Moncada etc, genius decision.

Almost as good as decision as sending Gabbia away and replacing with Pellegrino, great choice.

In fact how about the decision not to bring in Calafiori, who can play LB and CB, for peanuts…..another fine choice considering we need a back up LB and with all these injuries another CB, and Calafiori is playing great at Bologna, so we dodged a bullit there.

Oh well we got a load of cheap imports who are really doing well for us ?? Forza Milan

    1. These guys were sent away precisely to get minutes. Otherwise they’d be on the bench, and in Colombo’s case not scoring. What don’t you understand about that? If Colombo scores 10 goals this year then he will be brought back and given a role, maybe we don’t then have to spend 50m on a striker in the summer. That’s how this works. Jovic was brought in as a backup on a cheap deal with nothing to lose while Colombo was loaned out to continue development. It’s not hard to understand.

      1. Hi boss, fully agree with your analysis. But your last sentence is me too much “it’s not hard…”. I guess our current frustration mixed with our milanista passion, it Can move UP quickly 🔥. Have a great week 🙏🏾

  3. The most frustrating part of Milan is that they don’t give their young players time on the pitch. They’d rather loan them out and sign players like Jovic, who unfortunately don’t belong on the squad.

  4. Most of his goals were screamers. I like this boy so much and will never understand why he wasn’t kept in team with only 37 yo Giroud as a striker… He could get much playtime.Pioli first said he will use Okafor as a CF and let Colombo on loan , he barely tried Okaf on CF and now forsing Jović…

  5. Some people have got it all wrong, Colombo actually pushed for the loan move after being asked to stay. His choice. Could have used him though.

  6. Colombo now has as many Serie A goals as Leao. Thank God we sent him away!

Maybe we can loan-out Giroud and Pulisic in January. They have both CLEARLY missed Pioli’s instructions that all shots must now go over the crossbar like a field goal in the NFL. It’s clear that Leao and Reijnders have received the instructions.

    1. Because he knows Pioli doesn’t play youngsters, he signed a new contract with us before he went on loan so that proves he sees his long term with us, so yes he wanted to leave, to get game time, but we could have showed faith in him and said he would get plenty of games etc, and he would have stayed.

  7. People still don’t understand it’s not the fault of the strikers to some extent, they are not getting decent service, the midfielders are not creative, and are not creating chances, the only person who is creative is Adli.
The other issue is Giroud is also not helping matters, let’s be honest, he lacks the technical quality of holding the ball and drawing other players into play, then the whole team is off. Pioli does not have the confidence or courage to try new things, what stopped him from using Barthesghi yesterday, instead he used Florenzi who should not even be in the club, if you look at matches he has played on the left, all the danger we gave encountered is from his side, his lack of positioning and pace was clearly evident for everyone to see, the management needs to act quickly and remedy the situation, the best thing to do right now is for the coach to go, and release Florenzi , Giroud,Kjear, Mirante, and get better players, even some of the players out on loan could be brought back, and we also need to bring in more Italian players, that’s one of the major things affecting the squad and the club, but Pioli has to go, we have lost a lot of good players because of his inability to use them, or bring out their true quality

  8. I really hope he returns next season with a coach who really has faith in him and is able to develop him even further.
The loan does good for him and i am rwally happy for him.
He is the type of player who want to develop and is ambitious, not just stay at club and get rotten at bench. Waiting for someone get injured to get playing time… he is young and need to play regularly.

  9. Good for him. He didn’t want to rot on the bench for a moron like Pioli. Instead, he’s playing and developing. Young players need to play. This is why guys like Romero, Bartesaghi, Pellegrino need to be loaned out asap so they can develop and refine their skills.

He’ll come back next year better than before and hopefully Pioli is gone.

  10. The good thing is that he is not gone for good I guess.
Next year, if our management does his job properly, we can have a home-made striker and spend money elsewhere.

  11. 2 fantastic goals with both right and left feet. Ive always said he looks a real talent, despite some nay sayers here.
He has 3 goals from open play now, same as Giroud, more than Jovic or Okafor.
He left because we preferred to place trust in Jovic.
He would have had plenty of playing time and twice the amount of chances than at Monza.

Don’t get me wrong if we had signed a top striker and he wanted the loan, fair enough
