Sandro Tonali has arrived at Linate airport in Milan and will soon leave Italy to join up with his new club Newcastle United.
Fabrizio Romano reports that it is an additional €70m deal with add-ons included, while Milan will also receive 10% of the proceeds from any future resale. It’s a record sale for Milan, while Tonali becomes most expensive Italian player in history.
We spoke to James Horncastle of The Athletic on our most recent podcast and he gave some background on the move, while there was also an even more detailed breakdown that we picked the key bits from.

He looks devasted, spent all night crying clearly
Should have been published at Newcastle site instead of here.
It’s very sad. I’m devastated that he’s leaving. My Milan jersey is #8. He’s my favorite player. Grande Sandro, auguri per te!
Me too, I have the same shirt number, it’s very sad all this. But he will return when we have a Milan with heart again. If I were him I would have done the same leaving the club as it is after Ibra leaving, Maldinis sack and Silvio’s dead
I agree Luigi the last player i would have sold if i had to the task of selling players. I will never forgive this sale and regardless of how the media spins his move im gutted and feel very sorry for tonali because im sure he would have preferred staying with us. Anyways hope he returns to the club after redbird hopefully has left the club.
You really think he’ll be spending all night crying while earning £7.7 million a season + £2.2 million in add ons
