Since suffering relegation to Serie D, there has been talk of Milan Futuro potentially keeping their place in Serie C due to teams failing to register.
The Futuro’s miserable season was compounded as they lost the second leg of their play-off 2-0 against SPAL, resulting in a 2-1 aggregate defeat and sealing relegation to the fourth tier of Italian football.
There have been a lot of questions since about what the future holds (pardon the pun) after the failed €15m investment, as well as speculation about Jovan Kirovski’s position as the sporting director.
Calcio e Finanza (via MilanPress) have addressed the idea of a possible repechage for the Futuro. With a press release dated 7 February 2025, the FIGC established that the following order will be used when it comes to introducing new teams into Serie C if others fail to register:
➤ A second team for a club in Serie A;
➤ A club that played in the National Serie D Championship;
➤ A club relegated from Serie C.
The order established by the criteria means that Inter are effectively in first place for applications for a spot in Serie C. They have precedence over Milan based on the regulations established.
Those criteria are: young players called up to the Italian national teams (value 40%); league position in the 2024-25 season (value 30%) and; average number of spectators at the stadium in the sports seasons from 2018 onwards.
In the event of multiple vacancies, after Inter it would be up to a club among those that played in the Serie D and in third place a club relegated from Serie C in 2024-25. Milan Futuro, therefore, would effectively be in fourth position to request a repechage.
All legal and economic-financial requirements for submitting the application for registration must be completed by the clubs by 6 June 2025. The deadline is extended to 11 June 2025 only for clubs that take part in the play-off final.
yea and if inter dont apply for a 2nd team then we are first choice for that spot
