AC Milan are back on the field this afternoon as they face Hellas Verona, looking to take a big step towards sealing a top four spot.
Milan will return to the pitch at the Stadio Bentegodi after their shock defeat against Udinese last weekend, and a week spent in silence at Milanello, where they worked tirelessly to try and right the wrongs.

To revive his team and bring them closer to the Champions League target, Massimiliano Allegri is relying on his best and most experienced players. That applies first and foremost to Luka Modric, whose fate seems inextricably linked to that of the coach.
Mutual esteem
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report this morning, Milan are placing themselves under the protective wing of their Croatian star. Modric has currently played 2,666 minutes this season and is approaching the number he reached last year with Real Madrid.
In Spain, in recent days, they’ve been speaking of regret regarding the decision to let him leave. Allegri and Milan know this, and to put this difficult period behind them, they’re placing their trust in his natural leadership, which has led the Rossoneri out of tough spots so many times this season.
Modric – like Allegri and the entire Milan team – are 100% focused on these last six games of the season, where they will try to secure their objective: Champions League qualification. Then everything remains to be seen.
The coach made this very clear yesterday in his press conference. For the midfielder in particular, his fate seems tied to Max’s, and vice versa. If they secure a spot in Europe and the club provides guarantees on the transfer market, the bench will remain unchanged and Modric could stay.
Therefore, it is Modric himself who can define his own future, helping Milan achieve their goal and consequently increasing Allegri’s chances of staying. The ex-Spurs man wants to win with Milan: there will be no trophy this year, but he could get a second stab at it in 2026-27.
