MN: Five players not called-up by Pioli for game against Lazio – the reasons

By Oliver Fisher -

Five senior squad members have been left out of the squad for tonight’s crucial clash with Lazio at San Siro, it has been confirmed.

Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has named the 24-man squad available to face Maurizio Sarri’s side, and despite the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic plus the inclusion of Pietro Pellegri and Tiemoue Bakayoko, there were some obvious faces missing.

According to MilanNews, Andrea Conti was excluded due to technical choice as the full-back, in fact, is no longer part of the club’s plans. Rade Krunic has been stopped by an injury which he sustained on international duty, with further news on that to follow.

Olivier Giroud has recovered from Covid, but has not trained with the rest of the group and he will return for the Champions League game against Liverpool. Junior Messias, on the other hand, is still lagging behind in physical condition. Finally, among those not called-up there is also the goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari.
