Giampaolo blocked until next week, Mihajlovic to get compensation

By SempreMilan -

The future of the bench at Milan now seems a little more defined in respect of the last few days. The future of Cristian Brocchi remains uncertain, even if he was to win the Coppa Italia on Saturday night against Juventus.

A win in Rome would not hide the fact that it’s been a disastrous season for the rossoneri and even a place in next season’s Europa League is now in the balance.

Giampaolo Blocked

Marco Giampaolo, one of the favourites to succeed Brocchi at the helm given that his name was strongly recommended by Arrigo Sacchi, will have to wait a little longer to see if he has been successful as President Berlusconi contemplates the club’s and his own future. A decision is expected early next week as to who will be the new man (if there is to be one) in charge at Milanello.

Redundancy payment to Mihajlovic

Meanwhile, former coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has been meeting with club officials to try to come to an amicable arrangement over redundancy payments. The Serbian had another year left on his contract when he was sacked towards the end of the season and it’s believed he is asking for €1.5-1.6 million in compensation. Milan has offered €1 million and it’s likely that the two parties will meet each other half-way (€1.3 million). This will then leave him to take up the post as Torino coach next season.
