FT: Milan 1-0 Roma

GET IN THERE! A hard-fought win for the Rossoneri after Pavlovic’s winner at the end of the first half. They should have scored more goals, let’s be honest, but getting the three points is what matters at the end of the day.

Thanks to the win, Milan have now leapfrogged Roma in the standings as well, just one point behind first place.

MAGIC MIKE MAIGNAN SAVES!

The goalkeeper guesses the right way and keeps out the penalty from Dybala!

80'
Penalty to Roma...

Handball following the free-kick from Pellegrini. Fofana with a clear handball, would you believe it? What is he doing…

77'
Yellow card for Fofana, but...

That could be a red card. Studs up and he threw himself into that challenge at high speed. Let’s see if a VAR check is needed.

75'

Two yellow cards in quick succession for Roma. They are certainly getting a bit frustrated out there and Milan are doing everything they can to capitalise on it.

68'
HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN?

Great chance for Milan to double their lead. First through Bartesaghi, whose shot was saved by Svilar, then Ricci and Leao on the rebound! Insane that it didn’t go in.

57'

Another decent chance for Milan as De Winter heads it towards Leao in the box. Nothing came of it in the end, though.

50'
WHAT IS GOING ON?!

Milan hit the post! Nkunku from close range, it looked like the Frenchman wasn’t even expecting the ball. Really great start to the second half by the Rossoneri.

49'
SVILAR AGAIN!

Stunning save by the goalkeeper to deny Leao! Great work by Saelemaekers to set up the winger, and once again, that’s some save.

47'
SO CLOSE!

Fofana’s attempt is saved by the keeper! The ball landed at his feet after very nice work by Nkunku and Saelemaekers. This time out, the shot was decent.

46'

Ricci fires a shot just wide after 16 seconds. Nice attempt on the volley by the midfielder.

The second half is underway!

We need to see a much better performance in the second half from Milan. They got a bit lucky in the first half and only came to life after the goal.

HT: Milan 1-0 Roma

Milan struggled massively for the first 39 minutes of the game, then the goal came. Suddenly, the Rossoneri looked a lot better and even came close to a second goal. Fofana really should have converted that chance…

45'

One minute added on.

45'
HUGE MISS!

Fofana with a great chance after lovely work by Leao and Bartesaghi. He needed to score that, even if it was with his left foot.

44'

All of a sudden, Milan look a lot more confident on the ball. It’s funny how a goal can change games like that.

39'
GOAL! STRAHINJA PAVLOVIC WITH THE TAP-IN! (Assist: Rafael Leao)

Against the run of play! Leao does what he does best on the counter and finds Pavlovic in the box. Easy finish for the Serbian, but a great run into the box from him.

It’s been a shocker from Bartesaghi so far. He’s lost the ball countless times in the build-up and several of his passes have been dangerous. Might need to take him off at half-time.

17'

Milan are really struggling here. The defending hasn’t been up to par, with Roma constantly creating chances, while they have also failed to build any sort of momentum in attack.

10'

Ndicka heads it just wide for Roma. That looked like it was going in, Milan got lucky there.

  1. We’re having trouble scoring and are not keeping clean sheets. Roma doesn’t score much, but has the best defense. This smells of a 1-1 draw, and maybe even 0-0, but Roma has a good chance to win given all of our injuries.

    1. oh its Kunku. had a closer look now. He has a new look, more hair, got rid of the ‘piggy tail’ from last game Lmao

    1. The whole of the team is really bad. It’s like we are playing at 80% and okay with it. Even Saelemakers watched a switch drop on front of him without making a play on it.

This is starting to look a lot like the effort made last season.

    1. The midfield is terrible, nothing he can do, coming as not a regular starter. This is a tough match for a wing back position

  2. No Rabiot, No Pulisic, no Pervis and no Tomori…it is definitely showing. Ricci is MIA, Bartesaghi is too easy to get past and is struggling with the Roma press.

  3. Ricci is playing more of a regista role and doing it well after a shakey start. Modric seems to be more of a mezzala today.

With us up a goal I expect RLC to remain in the bench until about 70. Then Nkunku will have to come off b/c fitness.

Really hope Jashari is ready and we see him at 70 or so. Fofana missing that killer cross from Bartesaghi was tragic. That is where we really miss Pulisic.

The goal started from a really calm play on the ball by Bartesaghi. He is having a bad game no doubt, but I’m not longing for Estupinan by any stretch.

The difference between us the first 20 min and the last 25 are startling. It’s like Allegri flipped a switch and we decided to go win .

    1. Agree, he is looking better as the game goes on. Roma are playing well though and our midfield is busy defending the many Roma attacks. The goal seemed to change the tide though.

  4. Fofana is a defensive midfielder and is tracking and harassing the Roma defenders and midfielders up and down the pitch. Several interruptions. But yes, he has to score that one.

  5. We have lost so many chances to get a bigger lead
But we haven’t score it 😭

    We don’t have any strikers
    That he can score

  6. Leao showing his class tonight. Ndika and Mancini have been strong all season. Leao got better and better as the game went on and caused them problems whenever he ran at them. With Rabiot, Pulisic and Perivs to return, and add Jashari, Milan can do well this season.
