AC Milan made the decision to send various players out on loan during the summer transfer window, and some of those calls have been put under the microscope.
Calciomercato.com recall how Yacine Adli has already come back to haunt Milan with his goal in the 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina before the October international break, and by a strange twist of fate the next couple of league fixtures are Empoli and Atalanta.
Starting with David Vasquez, the signing from Club Guaranì was a strange one. He joined on a contract until 2026 and he played twice for the Primavera, then heading on loan to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship in England and then to Empoli.
In the second-tier in England and then at the same level in Italy he played 10 appearances clean sheets and kept five clean sheets. That was enough for Empoli to come along in July and sign him on loan with a €900k option to buy with a sell-on included.
Since then he has played 14 games in the league and cup, conceding just 12 goals and keeping a clean sheet five times. From a reserve to a trusted goalkeeper, Vasquez’s value has risen a lost from the figure Milan agreed to potentially sell him for.
Yacine Adli is also experiencing a similar trajectory, too. He was a bit of an object of mystery after his initial arrival from Bordeaux in in 2021 (and his loan back there), and he struggled for consistent starts under Stefano Pioli.
Then, Paulo Fonseca came along in the summer as the new head coach and decided the Franco-Algerian was surplus to requirements. Thus, he went to Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy, where he has racked up 14 appearances with three goals and three assists, scoring against Milan too.
Then we come to Charles De Ketelaere, who cost €35m to sign from Club Brugge but ultimately cost Atalanta €3m for a loan fee and €22m as an option to buy, plus some bonuses in favour of the Rossoneri.
His numbers tell a story: 40 appearances and only one assist with Milan, then 50 appearances, 14 goals and 11 assists for Atalanta last season. This season he is already at 18 appearances with four goals and nine assists.
Adli and CDK have very different stories with Milan. Adli was good, just not exactly what Milan felt they needed. CDK, on the other hand, was the worst I’ve ever seen in red and black, would lose the ball everytime he got it, no awareness of incoming pressure, missed easy chances; I’m glad he’s doing better at Atalanta, but I’m not sorry he went.
Thats more on the players. Especially Charles who got so much chances.
But glad for them, hopefully they will rake in some nice Cash for a new CB.
No he didn’t..he got around 1300 minutes most of it as a sub. That’s not appropriate for a player you paid 35M for.
4 example musah got over 2k minutes last season and he was always cràp. Yet they kept him, didn’t they.
“No he didn’t..he got around 1300 minutes most of it as a sub. ”
Well, he did NOTHING to deserve to be a starter. And when he was, he failed miserably.
Always looked to me like he’s just there. All he needed was a goal that never came. That would’ve opened him up imao.
When he was doing a bit better pioli just dropped him again for diaz.
At least real is using the player we developed for them, right? Right?
“At least real is using the player we developed for them, right? Right?”
For sure CDK would be a starter there, right? Right? 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Wow you just proved my point 1300 minuter that is about 14 full games. And what did he have like 1 assist as a attacker?
And somehow Chuk’s still here having his second lackluster season.
And you spelled a new DM wrong.
Steady, you’ll have Rossi jumping down your throat over his crush, CDK. Apparently there’s no difference pressure-wise playing for Bruges/Atalanta or playing for Milan – so it’s all our fault (as usual)….
@Fries
Nope it’s Maldini’s fault.
Your dad refused to acknowledge u, that’s also Maldini’s fault .
…………continue. Only this management is saint 👌 Chuk Musah excellent signing…..
Daniel maldini and piere kalullu add the long list ..
” 14 games in the league and cup, conceding just 12 goals and keeping a clean sheet five times.”
LOL. Milan has conceded almost twice as many. How pathetic are we?
the problem for all these players was the coach (period)
