Alexandre Pato offers Lucas Paqueta advice about how to overcome Milan struggles

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has offered some words of advice to compatriots Lucas Paqueta and Leo Duarte regarding how to success with the Rossoneri.

Paqueta had a turbulent January during which he declared himself unavailable for a game against Brescia amid rumours in the media that he was struggling with life off the field and life in Italy.

Since then his situation has gotten no better. He has started just one of the Rossoneri’s last 13 games in Serie A, which of course has once again led to speculation suggesting he could leave in the summer.

There has been persistent speculation in the media regarding his potential exit when the window reopens, with Benfica in particular mentioned as having an interest in the 22-year-old.

Pato spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport regarding Paqueta’s struggles at Milan, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.

“To play in a club like Milan you have to be very prepared with your head,” he said.

“You have to have people behind you who care for you and the club who is close to you. Lucas just has to focus on the field, leaving other things out. He is a great talent and a good guy.”

Pato also spoke about another Brazilian in Leo Duarte, who suffered a ruptured achilles tendon just before Christmas but is apparently close to recovery.

“I played against him, he’s good. He needs trust and I’m sure he will do very well. The perfect example is Toloi,” he said.
