Massimo Ambrosini was very impressed with AC Milanb’s display against Lecce as they showed a willingness that the away side could match. Despite being inferior football-wise, the Rossoneri thus came away with all three points.
It was a rather slow start to the game by Milan as Lecce did well to exploit space and get close to the penalty box. However, as soon as Alvaro Morata found the back of the net, it was over for the away side and the Rossoneri were able to see out the game.
Speaking to DAZN at the end of yesterday’s game, as cited by MilanNews, Milan legend Massimo Ambrosini shared his thoughts on the performance. He stated that the Rossoneri might have been inferior from a football point of view, but they were more willing.
“Abraham and Morata? The feeling is that they both have energy to spare. Milan are playing this way because they have attackers predisposed to sacrifice, even in a complicated moment like in the first 30 minutes, they remained in it.
“Then Morata’s goal, with his technical ability, made all the difference in the world. Then in the second half, the attitude remained the same. Milan were more willing, but from a footballing point of view, in my opinion, Lecce were even better than Milan”.
That same willingness will certainly be needed next week as the Rossoneri will take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. It will be a very tough game but a response is needed in that competition as well, having now bounced back in the league.
Lecce was better in football against Inter as well. They play nice football, but they are ineffective. This story is so empty, Milan won and Lecce was better.
Lecce was better for 80 minutes but the goals decide. And also… Rebic was the best player on the pitch until the first goal. Then he disappeared.
I disagree and that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. You can’t be the better team and lose. So Milan was clearly the better team and we won the game comfortably. Smh
Yes you absolutely can.
Not saying Lecce were better in this match. But you can obviously be the better team and lose.
While you are 100% correct, it’s pretty difficult to be the better side and lose 3-0! 1-0, 2-1, it happens all the time, but 3-0?
They are very well organised out of possession and have been for a few years. Last season, games against sides like that were hell to watch – we often looked looked out of ideas from kick off. Last night was different.
We were a bit flat but largely in control for about 25, then started to probe a bit more, and in truth the goal had been coming for a 8 or 9 mins when it finally did. The fact we smelled blood and pounced was joyous. If Theo would have got that 4th I think I’d still be unconscious now!
It was disappointing that we decided to manage the game from about 60 mins as a thrashing would have shut a few people (myself included) up, but reasonable with the upcoming fixture.
It was nothing more than how we should be performing in games like this, but that in itself feels very positive.
Won the game comfortably? Shots: 16-17. Shots on target: 6-7…
Look at the statistics of Lecce vs Inter 😎
Won the game comfortably? Shots: 16-17. Shots on target: 6-7…That strange pressing-game does not work at all.
Sorry, Ambrosini, but no, Lecce were not better. They got a good start and dominated play for a few minutes but then Milan got into the game and smashed them. With the victory all but assured and the Champions League looming with a difficult game against Leverkusen coming up, and being somewhat tired already from the Derby, we took the foot off the gas pedal in second half and subbed out many starters, but our victory was never in jeopardy.
See, Ambrosini, your team had not just won a Derby della Madonnina, and your team doesn’t play in the Champions League, so you were fresher and you didn’t need to save yourself; that’s all. It’s nice to try to see it positively for your team, but what you’re saying is just wishful thinking.
Lecce were better, until they weren’t. They conceided a goal and everything went downhile for them from there.
Our quality won us the game eventually and that’s the difference between big teams and smaller teams. The first 30mins Lecce caused problems but then we turned it on. It was a slow go at first and like the derby small details here and there favoured us instead. Rebic for instance caused problems for our “right back”
Lecce was better for 30 minutes. There are 90 minutes in football lol
Milan were better for 15 minutes, but given our superior quality that was enough. The rest was awful.
