AS: Barcelona deemed Hernandez as ‘ideal signing’ but Milan exit was never close

By Isak Möller -

Despite the interest of several big clubs, Theo Hernandez went with his heart and renewed his contract with AC Milan today. In fact, a more elsewhere was never really close for the prolific left-back.

The Rossoneri announced the renewal earlier this evening, with the new contract deadline set at 2026. It was a huge relief for the fans in spite of the recent positive updates, not willing to trust any report before it’s done given the past.

According to the Spanish outlet AS, Barcelona had Hernandez at the top of their wish list and they considered him the ‘ideal signing’ for the left-hand side. They believed he had all the attributes to fit in perfectly for Xavi’s side, very keen on his services.

However, Milan made it clear from the start that negotiations would start at €50m (reluctant to sell anyway) and Hernandez never pushed for the move to materialise. In other words, an exit was never really close despite the rumours.

Hernandez will be suspended for Milan’s game against Sampdoria due to the late red card he got against Inter. This means that Davide Calabria should play from start on the left-hand side.

  1. Theo——-Il Gazzella , A C is not only building a good team but more importantly building a culture, talented players with character will want to come to Milan and more importantly stay, yes we have to pay them competively however being loved by the fans seems to go a long way. I have to laugh at Renaldo and Lukaku, we all see how that has worked out. Forza Rossoneri

  2. Tonali, Leao, Theo, Calabria, Tomori, Kalulu who wouldn’t want to be on this team with these guys at the beginning of something great.
