AS journalist discusses Isco and Odriozola links, Brahim Diaz’s return and Milan-Real Madrid relations

AC Milan have been tipped to complete more operations with Real Madrid in the near future, and have been urged to try and sign Isco.

MilanNews spoke to Mirko Calemme – an Italian correspondent for the Spanish newspaper AS – and asked him about the links between the two sides that has seen them do a lot of business recently. There is even speculation that more players could follow the path from the Spanish capital to Milano, with Isco and Alvaro Odriozola mentioned as being targets for the Rossoneri.

Milan are looking for another attacking midfielder and Isco’s name continues to be among those most strongly linked, with Calemme urging Paolo Maldini and co. to evaluate what could be a chance to add a player of real quality.

“Isco is a great opportunity for Milan, because we are talking about a player who in Serie A could make the difference if he managed to find continuity and physical condition. Real Madrid has let Isco know that he must leave as he is out of Ancelotti’s project,” he said.

“His salary is important, six million net per season, but I don’t think it’s a problem. His contract will expire next summer, so in my opinion Isco could also accept a new contract from another team by accepting even a minor engagement. Real values the price tag around 20 million, but with an offer of around 15 million and some bonuses it could also close the negotiations. Milan are looking for a playmaker and Isco is looking for a great team to relaunch.”

Brahim Diaz returned to Milan on a two-year loan with the management clearly impressed by what he showed towards the end of last season, even giving him number 10 shirt.

“Brahim is a talent who has not yet expressed himself for what he is worth. He has flashes that have made us understand how strong he can become, such as the match with Juventus. Real are aware of how strong he is and for this reason they do not never wanted to lose control over the player. It will still be like this.

“Real are taking advantage of an opportunity to make him grow and Milan have done very well to bet on him. Returning to Serie A is also an opportunity to show off, but the desire of Real and also that of the player himself is to return to Madrid one day and triumph there. If he is used continuously he will do great things again this year.”

Relations between Milan and Real Madrid are historically excellent and in recent years plenty of negotiations have been initiated and concluded, including the likes of Theo Hernandez and Brahim Diaz.

“We know that relations between Milan and Real Madrid have been excellent for some time. In recent years, Paolo Maldini and the entire Rossoneri management have deepened these contacts that date back to the time of Galliani. Historically, the two clubs are linked and even recent transfer transactions, such as that of Theo, show that you can always do great deals with Real Madrid.”

Among the many names linked to Milan for the back-up right-back position is Alvaro Odriozola. Is it possible that they could turn to the Spaniard?

“Odriozola is leaving even if he is not convinced to leave. Real Madrid are planning to sell him and there are several Premier League clubs at the window. For now, Milan are more secluded, but I think it is another great opportunity, one of those talents who could do very well in Serie A.”
