Atalanta midfielder reveals Milan legend is his idol amid links with summer move

By Oliver Fisher -

Midfielder Matteo Pessina has revealed that his idol is an AC Milan legend amid strong linked with a return to the club this summer.

Pessina came through the youth system at Milan but was sold outright to Atalanta as part of the Andrea Conti operation back in summer 2017, which saw the full-back arrive for €24m and the playmaker went to Bergamo for €3m.

Having become the designated heir of Papu Gomez after leaving for Sevilla, his performances have begun to attract attention, and the Rossoneri were wise enough to obtain a 50% resale clause which basically allows them to buy him back at half price.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports (via MilanNews) reported earlier today how Pessina’s contract will expire in June 2022 and for the moment there is no news on his renewal with Atalanta, so Milan are watching with great attention and in the summer they could make an attempt to bring him back to the San Siro.

Pessina spoke during an interview with the paper and revealed that his idol is in fact an AC Milan icon.

“Who was my idol as a child? Kaka, of course. Every time he got the ball he did magic,” he said (via CM).
