Baresi concedes Milan are in a tough moment but insists they remain ‘convinced’

By Oliver Fisher -

Franco Baresi believes that AC Milan have what it takes to beat Inter tonight and lift the first trophy available this season.

Milan are not exactly coming into this game in glowing form as they have won just one of their first four games to begin 2023, continuing some worrying signs from the winter friendlies when they were well beaten by Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven.

The Rossoneri resumed the season with a win against Salernitana away from home but they were made to fight right until the end after taking an early two-goal lead. Then, they threw away a two-goal advantage late against Roma, were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by ten-man Torino and game back from two down to draw with Lecce on Saturday.

Baresi spoke to SportMediaset as he is present in Riyadh for the Italian Super Cup final as part of the Rossoneri delegation that have flown out from Italy, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“Milan are not coming from a very happy period, but they are convinced they are doing well,” he said.

“We come from an incredible season, we deserve this final and the team must never forget the belief that they can do well against anyone. We have excellent players and awareness.”
