Davide Bartesaghi was cleared of any serious muscle issue, and now further good news has emerged in view of the derby.
Bartesaghi limped off the field on Sunday afternoon against Cremonese shortly before Milan’s opening goal, and there was instantly some concern given that he was clutching the back of his thigh.
Thankfully, tests on Monday ruled out any tear, so an initial sigh of relief was breathed. Since then, confidence in seeing him back on the pitch on Sunday has grown in recent days.
Hopes grow
As reported by Corriere della Sera (via MilanPress), the 20-year-old’s availability for the huge clash at San Siro is increasingly likely. A yes is in sight, but clearly all the necessary checks will be carried out first.
There’s no point in having a player who is only partially fit in such an important match, nor is there any logic to risking aggravation of the issue into something worse, with another 10 games to come after the derby.
If he doesn’t make it, Pervis Estupinan will replace him, despite having fallen dramatically in Allegri’s pecking order. Allegri still brings him on occasionally, either during the match or from the start, but there is already talk of a summer exit.
