Bennacer thanks Milan fans and praises Ibrahimovic impact: “You have to give 200%”

By Isak Möller -

Ismael Bennacer bounced back from a few disappointing performances with an assertive one earlier this evening, helping Milan secure a 3-0 win away at Juventus. A huge result for the Rossoneri, now in third place.

Bennacer has received some criticism lately but looked like his usual self this evening, playing it simple but also making the best moves for Milan. He got the assist for Ante Rebic’s goal, finding the Croatian in loads of space.

Speaking to MilanTV and Sky Italia after the game, as cited by MilanNews, the Algerian spoke about the game and the incredible support of the fans. He also praised both Simon Kjaer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for their leadership.

On the performance and the great victory…

“It was a great match against a great team but there are still a few games to go. Tonight we did everything well but we have to be ready for the match against Torino.”

On the fans at Milanello…

“The whole team and I had the chills. We are doing all this for them and for the fans all over the world. The fans who came to Milanello helped us a lot and gave us incredible emotions.”

On moments of bad luck in the match…

“Bad luck is part of the game. We know that Franck normally does well on penalties but you can also make mistakes. Ibrahimovic had pain in his knee last week too. We didn’t lower our heads and we were good at reacting to difficulties.”

On the speech before the game…

“Ibra speaks, Simon speaks too. The coach said that today was a final, and that the finals must be won. We worked hard to play well this game and I think we did it.”

The importance of Ibra and Kjaer…

“They are players who have experience, we listen to them and do what they say. When you have a player like Ibra who tells you that you have to die for this team, you have to give 200% ”.

Do you feel the finish line is near?

“There are three games left, we have to work hard and give everything. We are on the right path, it is not over yet.”

Milan will take on Torino in their next game, scheduled for Wednesday evening, and another three points would get them a lot closer to the Champions League. Hopefully, they can replicate the performance of tonight.
