Bild journalist confirms that Milan playmaker is pushing for Man Utd move – ‘True’

By Oliver Fisher -

German journalist Christian Falk has once again reiterated Hakan Calhanoglu’s desire to leave AC Milan and join Manchester United.

Milan have left it late to agree a new deal with the 26-year-old midfielder, as his current contract is set to run out in June 2021 meaning in theory he could agree terms with another club as soon as the window reopens.

A number of clubs have been linked with a swoop for Calhanoglu by various media sources, including Juventus, Atletico Madrid and even city rivals Inter.

It appears that Milan are no closer to agreeing fresh terms with the Turkey international, and Christian Falk believes that Manchester United are in fact closing in on Calhanoglu’s signature.

“It’s true and I think this will happen because last summer there will already talks with his agent. I don’t know if you know but Juventus would have also have liked him last summer but he said ‘no’,” Falk told the Stretford Paddock Podcast.

“He said no because he already knew what would happen this summer with United. Talks are already very, very far at the moment and he’ll be a free agent, so this transfer is very, very likely.”

Now, Falk has commented once again on the rumours this time on Twitter. When asked if it is correct that Calhanoglu wants to join Manchester United, he replied ‘True’.

Calhanoglu scored a 5 out of 10 in our player ratings for tonight’s 1-1 draw against Lille in what was another lethargic and unconvincing performance from the former Leverkusen star compared to the levels he has set post-lockdown.
