Boban claims ‘pure champion’ Ibrahimovic will be ready for the derby; discusses the 4-4-2

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Zvonomir Boban has revealed his belief that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available for the derby on Sunday, and has praised his impact.

Ibra’s absence was felt on Sunday as the Rossoneri failed to break down Verona, who even finished the game having played with 10 men for the last 20 minutes.

While Sky are reporting that he will almost certainly be ready for Sunday’s showpiece game, Anto Vitiello of MilanNews.it offered a slightly more unnerving update.

He claimed earlier on Tuesday that while Biglia returned to the group but Ibrahimovic did not: he instead performed a personalised training session as he tries to get rid of calf fatigue.

Boban spoke at the ‘Amici dei Bambini’ event on Tuesday night about the Swede, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.it.

“Ibra is a pure champion. Zlatan has a particular personality. He has a particular professionalism. He entered the locker room with a particular humility,” he said.

“Knowing the shock that he can have, it was not so easy. He understood the atmosphere inside the locker room. The delicacy of the moment. Ibra had everything to risk. What he does, is all more.

“The impact of Ibra has been there. I think he will play on Sunday and he pushed to be there on Sunday against Verona.”

On the derby: “The next game is the one that counts more and more. It’s a unique derby.

“We have changed form, but we must not be obsessed with this. The 4-4-2? When you play with the two lines of four you are more balanced.”
