Zvonimir Boban has praised two of the stars from AC Milan’s Scudetto-winning campaign and picked out a player he believes could well explode this season.
Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Boban spoke about a number of topics related to the Rossoneri including their title win, the key players in the current squad and the work of his friend Paolo Maldini.
As part of that, he was asked for his thoughts on Rafael Leao and Sandro Tonali who both had a breakout season in 2021-22 and were a huge factor in the Scudetto success.
“When you play for Milan, the consecration is timeless, it must happen in every match, every year. The two of them were extraordinary last year, they have enormous quality and talent and have been decisive in the most important matches,” he said (via MilanNews).
He also mentioned another young talent that Milan have in their ranks as being a candidate to become one of the most gifted players in the league in his position, if he is not yet there already.
“This year, I believe and hope will be the year of Bennacer, an extraordinary person and player, unfairly underestimated.”
Meanwhile, several sources are reporting that the management are at work to secure the renewal of all three players, with Leao and Bennacer’s deals of particular concern given they expire in June 2024.
