Bonera confirms recovery time for Leao – will miss at least three games

By Isak Möller -

Rafael Leao, who has done fairly well at the start of this season, sustained an injury while on international duty with Portugal’s U21 side earlier this week. Unfortunately, he will miss a few games as a result of this.

During today’s press conference, ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Napoli, temporary head coach Daniele Bonera provided an update on Leao’s condition. Bonera, if you didn’t know it already, will lead the team as Stefano Pioli COVID positive.

“The players all presented themselves well, except Leao who had this problem and will have to be re-evaluated in ten days. His injury was not ideal but in that area, we have many solutions,” he stated (via MilanNews).

The winger is suffering from a hamstring injury in his right thigh and hopefully, he will be back as soon as possible. That being said, this will give some space to Jens Petter Hauge, who now is the natural replacement for Ante Rebic on the left flank.

The Croatian will make his first start in almost two months tomorrow, having recovered from his elbow dislocation. Leao’s injury didn’t come at the best time, therefore, as he could fall further down the pecking order.
