Brahim Diaz ‘very happy’ after beating Spurs and praises ‘incredible’ Milan fans

By Isak Möller -

Brahim Diaz scored the game-winning goal for AC Milan against Tottenham this evening and the Spaniard was understandably very pleased afterwards. This season, in fact, has been filled with ups and downs for him.

The Real Madrid loanee has struggled with consistency throughout his career and after a promising period at the start of this season, many believed a breakout was on the cards. However, tonight’s goal was his first since October.

Speaking to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, Diaz opted to focus on the collective efforts of the Rossoneri rather than his own goal. Indeed, Stefano Pioli’s men were united on the pitch this evening in all of their actions.

On the game…

“I’m very happy for the team, we had prepared well for the game. The fans were incredible tonight.”

On the situation…

“We must continue in this spirit and look forward. These victories are good for the team. We are an incredible team, as are the fans.”

On the goal for the quarter-finals…

“Now let’s think about the league, then we’ll think about the second leg in London.”

Milan will thus head into the second leg with an advantage, albeit a slight one. For that game, the Rossoneri plan to have Ismael Bennacer and Fikayo Tomori back at their disposal, which should give them a boost.
