Calabria explains why Milan need to treat Liverpool loss ‘as a lesson’ – video

By Isak Möller -

Davide Calabria captained AC Milan in their Champions League return last night, taking on Liverpool away from home. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the desired result but it was still a very important experience.

Despite scoring two quick goals just before the break, going into it with a 2-1 lead, Milan failed to hang on to it and conceded twice in the second half. Speaking to MilanTV (see video below), Calabria shared his thoughts on the game and what they can make of it.

“It was a tough game at a tough but amazing ground. It was the first time for many of us, they’re obviously a great squad and they caused us problems, especially early on. We did really well to turn it around.

“These games are won in the details and they just weren’t on our side in the second half. After taking the lead, we needed to be a bit more alert to try to get the result away from home in this incredible stadium. It’s disappointing, but we’ll take the positives.

“It was our first UCL game in many years and also the first one for many of us. We need to take this as a lesson and keep going,” he stated.

Take a look at the full interview in the video below (with subtitles).

  1. Milan’s right side need upgrade obviously. Calabria and Saelemeakers have been doing ok, but still pretty much 1 level below Champion League standard. The way they handle pressure make it hard for teammates to trust them when they look to right side for passing lane.
