Calabria discusses ‘melancholy’ of Salernitana clash: “It will be an honour”

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Salernitana, Davide Calabria spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the task at hand. He admitted that it will be a very special game, given the farewell of Stefano Pioli and others.

Pioli’s departure was confirmed on Friday morning and the likes of Olivier Giroud, Simon Kjaer and Antonio Mirante will also say goodbye after the game. As such, with the Curva Sud back to chanting for the final 45 minutes, it should be a special night.

Speaking to MilanTV ahead of the game, as cited by MilanNews, Calabria shared his thoughts on the emotional game. He stated that there is indeed some melancholy due to the departures on the cards.

An exciting evening…

“It will be very exciting, there is already a bit of melancholy due to the farewells of the coach as well as Simon and Olivier, but we will enjoy this match and try to bring home the last three points of the season.”

Men before professionals…

“Together with the coach, we have shared wonderful moments, also with Olivier and Simon, they have helped us improve in recent years. And they helped us win an unforgettable Scudetto. In addition to professionals, they are also exceptional people, it will be an honour to greet them this evening in front of our fans.”

Ending the season on a positive note is also very important after the defeat against Torino last time out. Second place is secured, but the Rossoneri could still use another three points to bolster their confidence ahead of an important summer.
