Calabria sends clear message: “We can score five goals in five minutes” – video

By Isak Möller -

Davide Calabria was one of the key men in attack for AC Milan last night as he won a penalty and bagged an assist. A positive display from the captain, in other words, who sent a clear message after the game.

The new captain of the team, amid the departure of Alessio Romagnoli, did well to win the penalty for Milan’s first goal and then assisted Ante Rebic’s first. A pretty good start for him, although there are things to work on.

Speaking to MilanTV (see video below), Calabria sent a clear message to the Milan fans with regards to the mistakes made last night.

“It was very important to start the season well. I wore the captain’s armband many times last season, it’s always an honour, and wearing it always gives you that extra motivational boost. It’s nice to be a good leader in the squad.

“The most important thing was to win the game. We are happy with the result, we worked hard in the last few days to arrive in good condition for the game.

“We cannot get distracted by the mistakes made because it happens. We have to improve on this, though. We cannot concede in the first minute and just before half-time. We could have avoided those two goals with a little more attention.”

“As said, however, we shouldn’t get too hung up on these mistakes. We are a strong team and we can score five goals in five minutes, so we have to maintain our mentality.”
