Calabria says Milan must ‘bounce back immediately’ and discusses controversial VAR call

By Isak Möller -

After a tough 3-0 loss against the city rivals Inter, in which he was subbed off, Davide Calabria spoke to the media about AC Milan’s performance. Of course, he wasn’t happy but made one thing clear.

It’s never nice to lose a derby, everyone knows that, but at least the Rossoneri will be able to focus solely on the league now. The 3-0 loss of tonight could affect their confidence, though, that seems like a very evident risk.

In an interview with Mediaset after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Calabria spoke about the defeat and what it means for the Scudetto pursuit. He also shared his thoughts on Ismael Bennacer’s goal, ruled out for a controversial offside.

On the defeat…

“We have to bounce back immediately on Sunday in the league. Let’s eat our hands tonight, and from tomorrow work even harder than before.”

A defeat that can affect the league?

“No, it doesn’t have to. The team is strong and must restart. We didn’t bring home the result we wanted, but we have to leave it behind immediately.”

On Bennacer’s goal…

“The Inter players were asking for a handball. Live it seemed like a clear goal, there were no protests except for a handball. Handanovic would never get there. There are decisions, I don’t know if they are right… From the pitch the feeling was different.”

Milan will face Lazio in their next league game and they need to forget about tonight’s loss in order to get all three points at the Olimpico. It’s a game that also could help them restore some confidence.
