Davide Calabria left AC Milan in the winter mercato, and will face his former club at least twice in the space of a few months with his new club, Bologna.
In the past 12 months, Calabria’s position within the defensive hierarchy fell quickly. Once upon a time, he was uncontested on the right of a back-four and his captaincy only strengthened his situation.
However, a handful of errors last season showed a need for Milan to invest in a right-sided defender, and this is where Emerson Royal came in. Despite the Brazilian failing to really impress with the Rossoneri, Calabria did not get a look in, which was a sign of his future.
Reports suggested that he was not likely to receive a contract extension, and with Kyle Walker arriving in January, his position once again fell, even if his Brazilian teammate suffered a serious injury.
As Tuttosport (via Milan Press) now reports, the defender now prepares to put on a shirt with different colours, against Milan, not for them. Thursday evening’s game will be the defender’s first game against his former club, and it seems it will be emotional.
The report states that a game with ‘many, many emotions’ awaits him, perhaps due to the memories of his 18-year stay at his former club, or the way his exit occured.
If Leao can’t even have a good game vs Calabria, then they should stop playing him.
Sad to see you leave Davide
Clown…byebye
Conceicao can not rob me of the joy of seeing Calabria trying to guard Leao.
You bunch of ungrateful yankee doodles are just showing what kind of fans you are. I know you cucks came with Greaseball Gerry and have no idea or memories of Milan before but show some respect for our former captain.
Objectively, Ted, when you put him next to Maldini, Baresi…. Was he really captain material? Even Romagnoli was better…
Calabria is really not that bad in terms of quality. We can’t say that what we have gotten to replace him is actually better for the team. Walker possibly, but then again, he is aging and is new to Serie A. I hope Walker’s decent form continues for Milan, but Calabria was not the issue that was plaguing the squad. I do wish him the best, as he helped the club win our first scudetto in years. Forza Milan!
Who says yankee doodles anymore? What are you 110 years old Ted?
Throwing the armband on someone doesn’t make them a Captain. Calabria was not captain material any more than Theo is when he wears the armband. In fact when Calabria was made captain was when all the problems started. Romagnoli was the captain when we won the scudetto.
Seems like this fella has been triggered and shows his true colors. I bet most of the people that you think came with Gerry has been Milan fans longer than you have been alive.
Calabria is trash, captain or no captain.
Calabria trash and Tonali a degenerate right? Talking about true colors. With you yanks this club and its fanbase has become a laughing stock in the world of football. But no worries, the degenerate and trash captain left and it seems we’re on the right path now right? Oh wait…
Concesao should leave this cliub,Milan plays with zero tactics
To play without a coach is better than having concesao
