Calabria warns Milan ahead of Verona clash and shares first thoughts on Italy call-up

By Isak Möller -

Milan have a big opportunity this evening, not only to bounce back from the loss against Lille, but also to extend their lead at the top of the league. The big teams failed to win and the Rossoneri now have a golden opportunity.

Stefano Pioli will have to do without Alessio Romagnoli, who injured himself during the warm-up, but Matteo Gabbia will replace the captain. Ther youngster played the opening games of the season and did well alongside Simon Kjaer.

In other words, it hopefully won’t have a big effect on the game, especially since Romagnoli’s performances haven’t been perfect lately. Next to Gabbia, Davide Calabria will start as usual on the right flank.

Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews.it, the right-back made it clear that they can’t afford to underestimate Verona this evening. He also expressed delight at being called up to the Italian national team.

“Verona is a team that can put us in difficulty, they play intensity like us. We have to give our best. The National team? I worked for it at all costs, I’m happy, I think about this match and then from midnight, I will think about the national team.
