Calhanoglu back in Milan’s starting eleven; Fiorentina are his favourite victim

By Isak Möller -

After missing the game against Torino last weekend, Hakan Calhanoglu will be back in action this evening as Milan take on Fiorentina away from home. For the Turkish midfielder, La Viola are the perfect opponents.

The Rossoneri No.10 has done very well in his new role behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, acting as the trequartista in the 4-2-3-1 formation. This evening, he will play from start in that position, facing his favourite victim in Italy.

As Milanlive.it highlights, Calhanoglu has been very successful against Fiorentina since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen. In December 2017, he scored his first goal in Serie A away at the Artemio Franchi, securing a 1-1 draw for his side.

In the reverse fixture in May 2018, at the San Siro, it was time for another first for the midfielder. In fact, he scored his first free-kick for the Rossoneri in a game which they won convincingly by 5-1.

Calhanoglu was also decisive in the last meeting between the two sides in Florence. In May 2019, the Rossoneri won 1-0 away after the Turkish international scored the winner with his head.

In short, when the former Leverkusen man sees purple, he goes wild. Furthermore, he’s in good company for tonight’s clash, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic also has Fiorentina among his favourite victims (8 goals).
