Calhanoglu: “I am happy at Milan; Gattuso? He has slapped me a lot”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has seemingly dismissed rumours that he could leave the club in January.

Recent speculation has suggested that RB Leipzig are readying a €15m bid to bring Calhanoglu back to the Bundesliga, with Schalke also circling.

However, the Turkey international has reiterated that he is happy under Gennaro Gattuso and with the Rossoneri.

“The relationship is really good, even when he is angry with me. I can accept it because he is a coach that wants to win,” he told DAZN.

“When he gets angry, it better not to say anything, otherwise you’ll get a slap. Have I had some slaps? A lot, a lot.

“I am happy at Milan, I am happy with Gattuso and his staff. I feel good here at Milan.

“My role? Biglia and Jack are out, so I have to play in their place from time to time. My position is decided by Gattuso.

“I definitely like to play behind the strikers, but it does not change anything. The important thing is to stay focused on the role I have to do.

“I do not feel under pressure. If I don’t score, I am judged negatively, but this is not correct. If I play for the team and do what the coach asks for, I am doing my job well.”
