Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu refused to give much comment when asked how he feels after Saturday night’s 3-2 derby defeat against AC Milan.
After seeing his former team-mates celebrating their Scudetto win at the end of last season Calhanoglu will have wanted to exact his own bit of revenge by winning the crunch clash at San Siro over the weekend, however Milan ran out 3-2 winners and the Turk gave the ball away cheaply leading to Leao’s equaliser in the first half.
There were more interesting bits to come out from the game too. MilanNews reported that Pioli hung a photo of Calhanoglu with the quote ‘We have fire inside’ (which he said before the game) to motivate his team, while there was also an angry exchange involving Theo Hernandez.
Calhanoglu spoke at the press conference on the eve of Inter’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich and he was asked for his reaction to the loss against the Rossoneri.
“The derby is over, I don’t want to talk about it anymore because it bothers me. It’s painful, I know, but it’s over,” he said (via MilanNews).

Yes good point. If Calhanoglu extend his contract at ACM, he will be hero & considered as one of the best AMC in the world, right now.
Because Pioli already give Calhanoglu his best role to play : AMC who drop deep to connect passes & the find the long-shots when in final third. He can be his best in that role & he was seen so important in ACM tactic.
But what role did he get at Inter ? A mezzala. Calhanoglu will never surpass Sergey Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio) in Serie-A with that role. Calhanoglu never good enough in defending phase neither in pressing nor the tackling.

I never like that snake since fassone/mirabelli buy him from leverkusen. Too much drama in salary,flop in 2 season with coach montella then gattuso then giampaolo. I dont agree with this, that was because of our high pressing & Tonali manage to win the ball final third. And that wasn’t the first-time Tonali did it. Last season vs Atalanta, Tonali also did it but finish it alone.
Any AMC will struggling with that pressing & almost none safe pass. Maybe only Zidane with his strong body & ball control expertise, can manage to get out from that situation.
But yes it pleased us as fans to see the one who struggling is our traitor.
Anyone will feel betrayed with Calhanoglu :
1. Have committed will extending his contract, so Maldini dont even find his replacement because Maldini also believe in his commitment. And the leave in free.
2. Switch to bitter rival (and he know it), then his first words at Inter are : “Let’s win the title again”.
3. Make ACM struggle in AMC pos in whole season, which might be very intended by Calhanoglu to give Inter upper-hand in title race & he was expect to finally win the title.
Frank Kessie was better : at least his last commitment, give Maldini time to find his replacement in 6-months time & still give 100% until the end of season.
