Milan managed to advance to the next round in the Europa League qualifier, beating Shamrock Rovers by two goals to nil this evening. Hakan Calhanoglu was an important player, voted as the Man of the Match.
The Turkish international played from start in the trequartista role, as expected, and combined a lot with Zlatan Ibrahimovic throughout the game. Just like last season, the duo was very successful, scoring one goal each.
Calhanoglu also added an assist to his name and thus continued his impressive form from last season. After the game, he was interviewed by MilanTV (via MilanNews.it) and spoke about his performance, the opponents and his partner in crime.
You started where you left off: “We are all happy. We respect all teams, Rovers are a team with quality. We have prepared well by working hard. I’m happy.”
No opponents can be underestimated: “We know it would be difficult here, they are physically strong. We played well from start to finish.”
On Ibrahimovic: “I hope to continue like this, we have a great feeling together. Thanks also to the team.”
Hopefully, the No.10 will be just as good against Bologna on Monday, which will be the first league game of the season. Stefano Pioli has surely spotted a few things that his team can do better and hopefully will put into practice next time out.
