Camarda’s father reveals why he is not worried about the pressure surrounding him

By Oliver Fisher -

Francesco Camarda’s rise to fame at AC Milan has been almost vertical, but his father Manuel is not worried about the attention getting to his son’s head.

Camarda began to make waves once the mainstream media got a hold of his stats with Milan’s academy, revealing that he had scored over 500 goals for various different age groups within the youth sector.

Having already drawn quite a lot of attention after his record-breaking debut in Serie A – after becoming the youngest ever player to play in the league – his goal at the weekend has also now exploded.

During the 3-1 victory for Milan Primavera away from home against Cagliari, Camarda netted to make it 3-0 with a ridiculous first touch and an incredibly composed dink over the goalkeeper.

Yesterday night the Italo Galbiati Trophy was presented and Camarda received the award for best young player. His father Manuel was also present at the event and he spoke to TMW.

“Francesco is following his path and we always support him, I’m not worried that it might get to his head, he has always been calm,” he said.

“In fact he is perhaps more anxious about speaking here on stage than playing football. This is his path, we tell him we will always be close and we hope his dream will come true.”

  1. I’m not going to jump on the Camarda hype train just yet. He isn’t the first teenager to have loads & loads of goals playing youth football & he won’t be the last. It doesn’t translate to a great senior career so I do not really care. His hype doesn’t even scratch the surface of the Mastours, Freddie Adus, Bojans, etc of this world.

If in ten years he’s struggling in mid to lower levels of Italian football, it’s the same people that are hyping him now to high heavens that will still shout “Wasted talent.”

What the boy needs now is the serenity & tranquility to keep growing so he can eventually maximize the potential, hopefully here in the Red&Black, that he clearly has.
