Capello reviews Theo-Leao incident and makes Scudetto claim: “Recreate harmony”

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan have started the season woefully. Results have been poor, the football has been as bad, if not worse, and there has already been a major ‘split’ in the group, at least with how it was presented, even if it was innocuous.

If before the season someone had written a blueprint on how to start the 2024/25 campaign, there would be a big red box stating do not collect only two points and don’t make it seem like a split is in place.

So far, both have been ticked off.

Draws against Lazio and Torino are concerning, worsened then by a deserved loss against Parma, and with the Theo-Leao incident, the noise has been too great to drown out. Unfortunately, the noise is continuing to echo.

Fabio Capello has already made several criticisms of the situation. Today, he made his latest comments on the matter when speaking to Radio Deejay, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

Did you expect Milan to take a firmer stance on Theo and Leao?

“No, I wouldn’t have thought so. The club had to intervene by saying that the coach is not to be touched, but with the players, the coach has to intervene: he has the most important role, he’s the one who has to recreate the harmony.”

But will Fonseca eat the panettone?

“Seen today, it’s difficult. But I hope so, he must be given time to make his ideas understood: he has shown strength and personality by leaving them out, and now he must do it by making them understand that playing without help in the defensive phase will get you nowhere.”

Who is in the running for the Scudetto?

“Inter with a difference. The bet could be Napoli with Lukaku, I’ve seen them doing some very interesting things. Juve I would have said after the first two games, now let’s wait for them.”

How much will the eight Champions League games condition?

“The European cups will be fundamental to reaching the goals, above all the strength of the roses that everyone has will count. From this point of view, Inter is clearly better than all the others.”
