Castillejo happy with birthday win and praises Ibrahimovic: “At the age of 39 he runs”

Milan claimed another three points this evening as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice away at Cagliari. Still struggling with many absences, Samu Castillejo got to play from the first minute yet again.

The Spaniard earned a 6/10 in our player ratings, failing to impress in attack but also putting in a good shift defensively. In order to keep his spot in the starting eleven, it’s clear that he will need to improve, even though Stefano Pioli likes him.

With the win, the Rossoneri restored their three-point lead in the standings. After the game, Castillejo was interviewed by Sky Italia (via MilanNews) and spoke about what was a perfect birthday present for him this evening.

On the evening: “There is no better gift than these three points, to see Ibra return to scoring. A really nice evening.”

On the situation: “This summer I had some physical problems, I couldn’t find the best physical shape, now I’m in a good moment, I feel good, ready to help teams and teammates.”

Ibrahimovic, as mentioned, grabbed a brace this evening in what was his first league start since recovering from the injury. Castillejo heaped praise on the 39-year-old, explaining that he is a great example for the entire team.

On Ibrahimovic: “He is an example for all of us, at the age of 39 he runs. We who are young must run and help him more and more. I have never played with someone with his charisma. When you make a mistake, it’s best not to look at him,” he concluded.
