CM: Cardinale to attend Verona game – important meeting with Maldini and Massara planned

By Oliver Fisher -

The 2022-23 season is 90 minutes plus added time away from being put in the history books, and Gerry Cardinale should be at the final game on Sunday.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Milan owner is expected in Italy over the weekend to attend the season finale against relegation-battling Hellas Verona, with the Rossoneri having already qualified for the next edition of the Champions League thanks to the win against Juventus in the last round.

Cardinale is returning to Italy to plan Milan’s future and ther eis a meeting with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara scheduled for next week to reflect on a rollercoaster season and make some assessments.

Various issues will be on the table, including the business done in the two transfer windows following the Scudetto win and the business still to be concluded, such as the announcement of the renewal of Rafael Leao until 2028.

The arrival of Cardinale opens the door for a face-to-face meeting to take place, from which clear indications can emerge regarding the planning next season and the summer transfer window.

  1. It would be interesting to see if ownership will make any changes in the sporting area.
    No question it was a disappointing year, influenced by the botched transfer campaign, that was 2nd in a row btw. If You take out Maignan and Giroud from last years market, we got almost nothing from Adli, Bakayoko, Ballo Toure, Messias, Florenzi, Pellegri. Add those to CDK, Origi, Vranckx, Dest.
    Way too many duds, very few hits.
    Imo, you can’t bring all 3 of Maldini, Massara and Pioli back.
    Since Maldini is safe and so is Pioli, we might be looking to upgrade over Massara. Every time I watch Frankfurt and I see how good Kolo Muani is, I’m reminded that Massara chose Origi over him.
    Igli Tare from Lazio is a free agent, reportedly and leaving. He has been doing outstanding job finding quality players and working with very little spending power. He has great eye for talent and he fits in the parameters of sustainability that ownership is pushing.
    Imo he would be an upgrade over Massara and way more experienced that would certainly help Maldini.

    1. Igli Tare is good. He found so many talents thru the years.In the meantime Juventus is taking Napoli sporting director. Why can’t we do something like that and hijack good coaches and sporting directors like other big teams do.

  2. I hope he is telling Maldini:

    1. No more gambling on CDK or Diaz;

    2. You’d better effing hope that whoever you sign instead of Scamacca, who West Ham sites are reporting has asked for Juve, works out.
