CM: From James Rodriguez to new wingers – Maldini plots restyling of Milan’s attack

By Oliver Fisher -

With Hakan Calhanoglu now out of the door and several gaps in the attack to fill, Paolo Maldini is at work to reshape the department.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan’s project is a constantly evolving draft in the minds of Maldini and Massara who are working on several fronts to try and be proactive about situations such as the doubts over Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s fitness and the possibility of other departures. A lunge for Olivier Giroud has arrived, with a two-year deal worth €4m net per season ready for the Frenchman.

Then, there will be work on the trident behind the striker, with the following stats from last season: Calhanoglu (4 goals, 10 assists), Brahim Diaz (4, 4), Hauge (2 goals), Saelemaekers (2, 2) and Castillejo (1, 1). The total is 13 goals and 20 assists.

Alexis Saelemaekers guarantees balance and dynamism on the right wing, but is not a huge goal threat and that is why Amine Adli of Toulouse has bewitched the scouting department of Milan after a season in which he was crowned the MVP of Ligue 2.

Brahim Diaz will not be enough to replace Hakan Calhanoglu and therefore another new signing is expected for the No.10 role, while Jorge Mendes is hard at work on selling Rafael Leao who could go to Everton in a swap for James Rodriguez. Milan are looking for goals and are preparing an offensive revolution.
