CM: Future of Diaz remains uncertain as Milan’s mercato will decide a lot

By Isak Möller -

Brahim Diaz still has one year left on his loan at AC Milan but after a rather mediocre season, there could be discussions of an early exit. However, it depends on a lot of factors, as a report highlights.

The Spaniard started the 2021/22 season really well but faded as it went on, failing to impress the management and Stefano Pioli. The feeling has always been that he will remain until 2023, but that could soon change.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are interested in Charles De Ketelaere and his potential arrival – or a similar signing – could raise questions about Diaz’ role at the club for next season. The next few days (perhaps weeks) could thus be very important.

Milan have the option to redeem Diaz for €22m next summer but as things stand, they consider that figure to be too high. It should also be noted that Real Madrid have a buy-back clause at €27m. In any case, the moves on the mercato can provide important signals this summer.
