CM: Giroud aging like fine wine as 11th consecutive start awaits after turning 36

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud turns 36 today and some Milan fans were present at the training ground earlier to deliver him some gifts. The experienced striker hasn’t acted his age on the pitch, though, performing at the highest quality.

The Frenchman has started the season in tremendous fashion, bagging five goals in nine appearances (all comps.) thus far. He hasn’t started a campaign this well since his time at Montpellier, more than ten years ago.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Giroud certainly isn’t acting his age on the pitch as he has started nine consecutive games. Even while on international duty with France, Didier Deschamps made him play for the first minute.

The games against Empoli and Chelsea, therefore, will make it 11 consecutive games from start. Ante Rebic hasn’t quite recovered for tomorrow’s clash and it would be foolish not to start Giroud at Stamford Bridge. In short, despite his age, he’s performing at the highest level and now he will be looking for an extra birthday gift.

  1. There’s just something wrong in saying he’s playing to that many games at such an advanced age. It’s an injury waiting to happen and then cue the boo boys

    1. Just because you don’t like the article, you expect Giroud to get injured next time.
What kind of supporter are you??
