Matteo Gabbia has played the last two games from start to finish and he has impressed the fans with his performances. AC Milan have even changed their mind on his future, a report claims.
The young defender was destined for a loan move to Sampdoria in the summer but Milan ended up keeping him. In hindsight, that was a very good decision as Gabbia has come in handy during the current injury crisis.
Starting against both Juventus and Chelsea, he allowed Pierre Kalulu to move out on the right, but not just that. He has also done very well in the centre of the defence, competing with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to Calciomercato.com, the interest from other clubs (including Sampdoria) has increased since the summer but Milan won’t sanction a January move. Instead, they will keep Gabbia and give him playing time, so as to not halt his progress.
Who knows, perhaps Gabbia will be ‘the Kalulu’ of this season. The Frenchman, as we know, got the chance amid an injury crisis and never looked back.
Keep him. Milan don’t need to find another CB when Kjaer retired.
instead of bolstering the RW that is in shambles, they would go hunting for expensive CB & fans would go defending Pioli & Maldini like they are too perfect & doesn’t need room for improvement.
Pioli has gabbia & Thiaw & he shld blend them into the team gradually not discarding players like he’s done & Maldini has not sold any Milan for any mentionable value since they came on board. if priorities are set right, our players are good only if opportunities are given to the squad back-up every now & then, we would build a stronger team not this present team that we are over-working & fatigued
Milan already have RW with Alexis and Messias. And Dest, Diaz, CDK, and Krunic also can play as RW. Like how many RW do you want???
Hunting for expensives aka a solid CB is makes sense because Kjaer had ACL while his age also close to retirement. You can see Kjaer didn’t play as solid as last season and now he’s injured again when we need him badly. A good defender is very important in the long run.
Sure, Dest, Diaz & CDK _CAN_ play as RW but it’s a completely different story whether Pioli will play them there. Rebic can play there as well (has played there in Croatia nat. team many times) yet zero appearances as RW during the last 1,5 years.
Diaz, CDK, and Krunic already played as RW in the last 2-3 matches.
And while Rebic can play as RW, his skill and scoring goal are much better when he plays as LW or CF.
Hoping that young defenders like gabbia, thiaw, kalulu and tomori can develop and learn from our best world class defender in maldini and even nesta if he ever come back again to this club.
