CM: The latest on Milan’s plans for the attack – from Colombo to Origi

By Isak Möller -

The season opener is fast approaching and AC Milan are working hard on the mercato to offload some of the outcasts. In attack, Divock Origi is proving to be a difficult player to sell, but the plan hasn’t changed.

Milan have done well to reinforce the attack this summer with the likes of Samuel Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, Christian Pulisic and Luka Romero. However, the Rossoneri are also working on reducing the number of attackers in the squad.

Divock Origi is the first culprit that comes to mind, as reported by Calciomercato.com, given that Milan left him out of the USA tour. Even though he will be back in training today, the plan hasn’t changed. The Rossoneri want to sell him but only the Turkey hypothesis appears to be alive still.

Lorenzo Colombo is another player that has been linked with a move but Milan are considering keeping him in the squad. Five teams, including Genoa and Verona, have expressed their interest in the player though and Milan haven’t fully closed the door to a loan.

Should Milan offload both Origi and Colombo, then a young striker will be signed by the management. First, however, the departues must be completed.

  1. As I said Origi will stay. But tha we can use him as 4th option. Okafor, Giroud and Colombo first options, and Origi if like to be with spectators- why not…

    1. Why not? A deadwood that won’t play and would earn 4m a season? U must’ve lost your mind. At this point it would be better for Milan to ship him out with whatever amount of money rather than keeping him earning his salary, considering our highest paid player is on 5m. Look at Rebic’s case, he should’ve worth at least 4-5m yet how much did Milan earn? 500k.

        1. These all could work out if saudi offered him like twice his salary. Idk if a football player could be so reluctant to stay knowing that he wouldn’t play.

  2. This is what you get if sign free transfer with high salary , if they flop , then it will be hard sell them . He will keep reject all offer below his salary now and sitting on the bench wont scare him because he already do that on liverpool many years

  3. Should have loaned Columbo and signed Veliz: Giroud Veliz and Origi (if he refuses to leave). Columbo needs PT and he is not capable of being #2 or leading the line in case of a Giroud injury. Okafor is not a #9 – and that is what we need. A #9 considering Girouds age and Columbo not being ready. Veliz was available for a reasonable fee and should not have waited to make a sale first. In this case when such a talent is avail for a price within our range we should have jumped at it and made an offer and we didn’t – and had faith in the magical Furlani that he could sell players later on. Bad decision IMO
