Eagle-eyed spectators noticed that the entire AC Milan team gathered under the Curva Sud after the defeat to Liverpool last night, barring Rafael Leao who had already gone to the dressing room.

Things were going brilliantly when Christian Pulisic’s excellent shot put Milan a goal up inside three minutes, but Konate and Van Dijk headed in set pieces to give Liverpool a half-time lead, then Szoboszlai made sure of the points in the second half as the game ended 3-1.

As Calciomercato.com write, there were signs that the fans were beginning to turn when the Curva Sud raised a banner before the Venezia game on Saturday which said: ‘Enough excuses, final call’. The 4-0 victory against the Venetians was not enough: a further indication was needed with Liverpool that did not arrive.

The Curva constantly encouraged the team for 92 minutes and then started a protest against the team at full-time, urging them to ‘show their balls’. At the end of the match Leão went straight towards the dressing room while all of his team-mates stayed.

Milan will arrive at Sunday’s derby with a toxic mood surrounding the team. The match against Inter could decide the future of Paulo Fonseca and the ambitions of a team that risks losing touch with the objectives it had set itself at the beginning of the season.

  1. Leadership skill is a luxury to some people. It is something you were born with and it cannot be developed. Unfortunately, Leao does not possess such skills. I am not commenting about what he did and did not do in the match so do not even bring up his performance. This is about leadership.

    1. How can you say the skills are a luxury to some, yet you have to be born with it. Leadership skills can most certainly be taught and cultivated, but it has to be intentional, with a combination of both competence and understanding. what are you talking about?

  2. I am beginning to fear that this season is going to go very badly and that next summer we’re going to see too many changes yet again, including the departure of Leao. It’s already clear that we’re playing for CL qualification again, but we might struggle to achieve even that.

    1. The problem with our team right now is that we have NO F*CKING leadership. A player like Leão needs a coach that has made himself a name in football. Example, if Milan had hired Klopp (hypothetically ofc) Leão probably wouldn’t have been acting like this cause Leão would respect the coach. Or not even necessarily a good coach, we could’ve gone for a big name (With this management ofc it’s not gonna happen) and they could’ve been a leader. For ex, if Milan let’s say had signed Ronaldo or a player like that that would push the team forward, we would’ve won all our games already. Now we can also blame the management for hiring fonseca and not going for someone like Terzic and they’re doing it until now? 💀😭🙏

  3. Noticed how all 4 attackers at L’pool pressed? We could never do that with mister strolling on the club.
Yet they want to play high press by any means. And make the lazy boy the leader of that. He pressed twice in the whole game.

    1. I did notice. EVERYONE in Pool played their part and ran their socks off. They played FOR THE TEAM because that’s what players are supposed to do.

Most players in Pool are way bigger start than anyone in Milan yet they don’t have massive egos and don’t act like primadonnas/divas. Makes a helluva difference when players put their team first.

  4. To me, Leao should be sold as soon as we get a decent offer. Not just because of this game, but because he disappears in all the big games. None of his little “moves” to beat his man down the sideline worked. He is childish, immature, and not worthy of the Milan shirt. A true superstar would make an impact way before the 93rd minute. Sell as soon as possible.

  5. Rafael Pippao Trappao…weak mentality, no ambition, average player despite his enormous talent…shame.
Same story for Theo…10-12 good games maximum in a full season. It’s too little for his immense potential. But again…the problem is mentality, no winning mentality, laziness.
In my opinion for some time…they must go elsewhere. They have no desire to progress with us and they are more a liability for us than an asset right now.

  6. I know its a long tradition to blow the curva sud’s pole win or lose. If I am a frustrated player, I understand just going to the lockerroom.

But what used to be only/ mostly Antonio Cassano’s take that Leao is just an athlete and not a great footballer, is an opinion that is spreading. If he wanted to destroy his marker everytime and terrorize defenses, he probably could – he’d need to work on his fitness. But he has made the decision or doesn’t have the mental strength (not saying I do) to become one of the best players in the world. His 50% effort is good enough 80% of the time in Serie A and to be considred the team’s best player and he seems Ok with it.

  7. You are all talk about leadership. Rememember gattuso who bring the real leadership treatment to the squad ?

We are now evolving, just backward to “pre-” gattuso mental state
