CM: Meeting between Cardinale, Maldini and Massara begins – the themes from budget to signings

By Oliver Fisher -

An important meeting is underway involving Gerry Cardinale, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to discuss AC Milan’s moves this summer.

According to Calciomercato.com, the summit is taking place in a hotel in the centre of Milan – where the RedBird founder is staying – and it will mainly be to talk about the upcoming summer transfer window.

After the renewal of Rafa Leao’s contract until 2028, the management will move to lock down Mike Maignan to a long-term extension too, given that he is popular in the Premier League.

The budget available to be invested will be defined too, which should be around €50m to which any funds deriving from the sales will be added, such as Ante Rebic, Divock Origi and/or Junior Messias.

The situation of Brahim Diaz is in the balance, over whom there will be a meeting with Real Madrid, while the report adds that Marco Sportiello and Daichi Kamada should arrive on free transfers.

The negotiation with Chelsea to reach an agreement over Ruben Loftus-Cheek, valued at €20m, also remains hot.

  1. its just speculations but it should be at least 80Mio. With 50Mio you can buy just one Top Player and the rest of the few Millions some talents.. Kamada is good but he will not raise the bar. We need so Players like Theo, Leao, Tonali, Maignan

  2. If going to the UCL semis, Almost selling out every home game and guaranteeing UCL next season gives us 50M in budget, we are doomed.
Given all our needs, all we can hope for is one decent player (not even top) and 3-5 young guys who may or may not do well. Like last year,
2022 – 35M on CDK and the rest on 3-4 young players to fill our many gaps
2023 – 30 on RLC and the rest of the holes on young guys

    1. This is the exact reason the stadium has been such an issue. There’s an extra 100M-150M per year lost every year until Milan have their own new stadium like the major clubs in England, Spain and Germany. There’s no way to make up that gap without getting the new stadium.

  3. 50M budget last season and we go to semi finals of CL make another 85M in prize money – BUT the budget remains the SAME??? AND we are profitable? LOL. This is the ambition of Resbird/Elliot. As I have said many times, Ownership is concerned about profit over titles. 50M? And we want do compete for CL? Lol. And ppl have the stupidity to criticize M&M while working with such a meager transfer budget? Those same fans want us to sign Berardi and Scamacca for example – with what $$ ???? LOL. Those two alone cost 50M total. No $$ for other areas that we desperately need attention. You would think making it to CL semis would perhaps give us another 30-50M to spend on transfers – BUT wait – nah – same budget as last season from Mr Cardinale. LMAO. IF this so true, They have no ambition to return us to a top club – Atalanta is the model. Flirt with top 4 each season and if we happen to win a title here and there so be it and if we don’t – we’ll we are PROFITABLE – so the fans should be happy like all Atalanta fans are right?? Lol

    1. you do realize it is not a football manager game and the main focus of each business is to make profit…
Noone told M&M that they cannot sell players to fund new transfers. Milan simply suck in selling players for profit.
Milan could sell, Kalulu to fund new transfers. MIlan spent 175m in 4 years on transfers without selling anybody for a huge profit.
Napoli sold Koulibaly and Ruiz to buy Olivera, Kvara and Kim and now they are selling Kim…
Milan doesn’t do anything even similar… Inter Sold Lukaku or Hakimi… Atalanta also sells just like ajax or Benfica….
So yeah you want more sell…

  4. The Doom & Gloom crew is already excited and ready to go… Oh boy, we’re in for another looooong silly season…

  5. Last season mercato was a disaster with almost no one really reinforce the squad and now even after through to UCL semi we’re still having this puny budget for out mercato when there are so many areas need to be reinforce and the stadium project keep delaying weeks months or even years!!!, seems like redbird are much worse than elliot as an owner, now can only hope that next season mercato do us a wonder and CDK can finally shine or we’re gonna be doomed.
