AC Milan could make a move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in January if they lose Krzysztof Piatek, according to a report.
The Rossoneri are struggling for goals this season, having scored just four in six Serie A games with only two coming from open play.
Piatek’s struggles are well documented: the Poland international has just one from open play in his last 12 competitive games for Milan stretching back to last season.
Calciomercato.it recently reported though that Barcelona want Piatek to replace Luis Suarez, while Pianeta Milan suggested earlier on Thursday that Manchester United are also keen on a move for the €40-50m rated striker.
Il Corriere dello Sport then went as far as to suggested that Giampaolo would not oppose the departure of the former Genoa striker in January.
A report from Calciomercato.it states that if Piatek appears close to leaving then Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud could be an option to replace him.
The Frenchman has played five times in competitive games for Chelsea this season, scoring only once, but he does have a record of 19 goals and 13 assists in 68 games for the Stamford Bridge club.
The 31-year-old also has 36 goals in 93 caps for his country, and currently has a contract which expires next summer, meaning he could join on a free.
