The upcoming weeks will be very important for Milan, during which evaluations will be made in view of the transfer window. Failing to grab a top-four finish this past season, they are more determined than ever to make it.
Just like Gigio Donnarumma and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Rossoneri also have to deal with the future of Lucas Paqueta. As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, the Brazilian needs to revive his career, arriving for a fee of €35m in January 2019.
However, this is easier said than done, especially since he doesn’t have a spot in Stefano Pioli’s usual starting eleven. Furthermore, it isn’t easy for Milan to try to offload him, seeing as there is little interest on the market.
In recent weeks, rumours have suggested that he could be part of a swap deal with Fiorentina or Benfica, as Milan are interested in Nikola Milenkovic and Florentino Luis. However, these tracks have seemingly cooled down as of late.
There is still a lot of time left though, as the window will open at the start of September and end in October. That being said, the Rossoneri have to be prepared that Paqueta might not leave the club this summer.
In that case, will his role will be vice-Hakan Calhanoglu? It seems to be the best position, but then again he needs to perform. The upcoming weeks are very interesting and will decide a lot with regards to the future.
