CM: Milan’s injury room ‘close to emptying’ – updates on Loftus-Cheek and Bennacer

With the international break coming to an end, we can start looking ahead to AC Milan’s clash against Udinese, and because of this, it is fair to take a look a the injury situation.

Aside from Ismael Bennacer’s injury, Milan have been blessed to exit the first few games of the season relatively unscathed. Of course, there have been a few knocks and one serious injury, but Calciomercato.com reports that the infirmary is ‘close to emptying’ which is massively positive.

The report starts with those close to returning, and Marco Sportiello’s hand injury is the first focus. His operation is ‘behind him‘, and he is getting close to making a return. From physiotherapy to pitch work, things are progressing well, and he could be with the group against Udinese.

Similar can be said about Davide Calabria and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The right-back’s muscle injury was ‘nothing serious’ and he should be available in the next game, and this is relatively the same for Loftus-Cheek whose flexor strain should no longer be an issue. Luka Jovic should also be fine to play after recovering from a pubic overload.

Samuel Chukwueze ends the international break on the recovery table after picking up a muscle injury for the Nigerian National Team. Whilst there is no clarification about the time he will be sidelined, there are fears he has a hamstring injury.

In the cases of Alessandro Florenzi and Ismael Bennacer, they still have length recoveries to play out. The defender should be able to return in February, if not March. However, the Algerian midfielder could return in January.

  1. i know it doesnt matter as Jovic is far from important currently. but he was playing for Serbia 2nd half against Switzerland already last Saturday so i dont see the point including him in an injury update. good to hear though that Calabria and RLC are available soon. already feared that we are without options in the next games.
