CM: Milan resume contacts with €30m Lyon star in bid to beat Everton competition

Memphis Depay is back in action after tearing his cruciate ligament at the end of 2019. For Lyon and manager Rudi Garcia, this is a big boost but the future remains uncertain for the Dutch star.

According to Calciomercato.com, the situation hasn’t changed despite the contacts between Depay’s agent and Lyon. The negotiations for a renewal aren’t proceeding as hoped and the parties are still very far apart.

Therefore, the striker is evaluating a summer exit, with several clubs showing their interest as of late. AC Milan are one of them, per the report, as Ralf Rangnick wanted him at RB Leipzig and now has a chance with the Rossoneri.

The talks between Hendrik Almstadt, CEO Ivan Gazidis’ co-worker, and Depay’s agent have been going on for quite some time. In fact, Milan are constantly informed about the situation.

Lyon’s request, for now, isn’t reasonable: €30m for a player whose contract will expire in just one year. The Rossoneri are monitoring the situation but will have to be careful, as Everton also are interested in the player.
