CM: Milan seriously considering veteran striker as Bologna are open to move

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking for a young striker to improve the attack for next season, but they could also sign a more experienced name. In fact, the Rossoneri are seriously considering Marko Arnautovic.

Arnautovic, aged 34, has scored nine goals for Bologna this season and after struggling with some injuries, he returned to scoring earlier today against Cremonese. He’s now keen on making one final push in his career.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Arnautovic has a contract until 2025 with Bologna and given that he earns €3m per year (€4.5m gross), he could leave the club this summer. Especially if a big club were to come knocking.

Milan are seriously considering the Austrian international, per the report, as both Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could leave in the summer. Bologna’s manager Thiago Motta made it clear recently that the striker will most likely be allowed to leave for a bigger side, meaning he might come on a free transfer.

“If teams should come in for Arna – who is 34 years old – teams aiming or playing in Europe, I think that’s only right. It would only be right if he could have a great opportunity for a big club,” he stated.

  1. Berlusconi twin attack philosophy is what Milan lacks. We need to reestablish a pair of hit man that can pry open park the bus teams. Giroud has to be the 3rd man, not the only man. We need to buy a pair of strikers.

  2. So much for the project talk recently. Is this serving our project getting players at the tail end of their careers. Is Giroud not experience enough. We need two young stikers that can grow with the team, not reset the start button every season. Have we not learnt enough from the past seasons’ struggles where we pick up injuries and not have solutions right in the middle of the season? There is no more time to experiment and make inconvenient mistakes that we cannot solve during critical times of the season.

  3. Giroud should be our 3rd placed striker as things stand, not have him compete actively for a starting berth. More of an impact player so we need to get 2 promising young strikers for the next 5 to 7 yrs. And please get rid of Origi since we are thinking of clearing out the deadwood.

    1. “Giroud should be our 3rd placed striker as things stand, not have him compete actively for a starting berth. ”

Yeah, because 3 goals against Samp is enough. Or being the number one scorer for the club, eh? Get him good enough service and he’ll bang 20 next season.

  4. Giro ancient, cant and should not be a starter anymore. Arnautovic old, injury prone, cant and shouldnt be a starter. So we need an actual starter striker, which makes Arnautovic a waste of money.

  5. He’s a trouble maker, no thank you. How about focus on bringing a world class striker and then you have the great giroud as backup.
