CM: Milan’s plans outlined as agent fires words of warning regarding key midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan see Hakan Calhanoglu as a key part of their plans for the future despite some interesting comments from the player’s agent, a report claims.

The Turkey international had a hand to play in all four goals and bagged two assists plus it was his shot who was spilled for Giacomo Bonaventura to make it 2-1. You can see the highlights of his performance here.

However, despite the fact he has been virtually ever-present in the starting XI since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen three years ago, there have been a number of rumours over the past few months suggesting that Calhanoglu is considered sellable by the Rossoneri management.

His agent also came out on Tuesday and – during an interview with TMW – admitted that his client has dreams of playing in the Champions League, suggesting a renewal with Milan on his current deal (which expires in 2021) is not a formality.

According to Calciomercato.com however, Milan see the 27-year-old as central to the project that Ralf Rangnick wants to build at the club, with the German having wanted him at RB Leipzig before.

Elliott and Rangnick want Calhanoglu to extend his current deal and are now studying the strategy to convince him to sign, with the player clear that he wants a shot at the Champions League sooner rather than later.
