CM: Milenkovic not the only target as Milan retain interest in other Fiorentina defender

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Napoli are both interested in signing Fiorentina defender German Pezzella in the upcoming window, a report claims.

It is no secret that Milan are in the market for a centre-back who will become the new long-term partner to Alessio Romagnoli, and the name that has been linked most over the last few weeks is Nikola Milenkovic, also of Fiorentina.

According to Calciomercato.com however, Milan are also keen on signing Pezzella in the summer window. A meeting to deal with the renewal of the Argentine’s contract is scheduled, but it will depend on the offer of the club and on the other on the player’s will.

Pezzella is liked by Sevilla as well as Napoli and Milan in Italy. For the Neapolitans the 28-year-old is the first choice to reinforce the defence while the Rossoneri – despite failing to sign him next year – still have interest and could try again.

Pezzella spoke to il Corriere dello Sport about his future, remarking: “Football is unpredictable, but in Florence I’m fine.

“This is my place in the world, Fiorentina and Florence are my second home. My dream is to play in Europe with the purple jersey and earn a World Cup call-up with the Seleccion [Argentine national team].”
